We can use the ideas from the other posts of physical proximity to overcome on natural urges to seek out one of our own UN foster communities that are more diverse and inclusive by nature.
Instead of numbering the types of people, we interact with as we grow older we can expand our interactions by setting up physical situations where it's easier to interact with those who are different to us by bringing different groups into the same space we can foster mutual understanding empathy and in some cases friendship
We need to focus on people as individuals and try to remember that each person has their own unique history and experience as well as complex emotions thoughts and motivations
We need to become aware of our own unconscious biases. This is an important step for a less isolated society
We must remember that diversity has important benefits
We need to make an effort to broaden our social circle
We need to remember that identity's are multidimensional and intersectional, people can belong to multiple groups based on their sex gender race religion nationality and more all these identity's intersect and play a role in shaping the individuals experiences
Speak up- one way to combat biased behaviour is to speak up whenever you see discrimination happening people are less likely to engage in authoring when is socially unacceptable without people speaking out it will become more acceptable to engage in the same types of behaviours.
All these steps shows us how easy small social changes can make a massive difference, we can all do our bit the help make the world a better place!
